Extend Canada Visitor Visa

For people who want to STAY longer in Canada and extend their stay up to 6 months need a visitor record.

Why Extend Canada Visitor Visa?

A Canada Visitor Visa holder can usually stay in Canada for up to 6 months from the day she/he entered Canada (Not the visitor visa issue/expiry date) or until the study or work permit expires. Despite this, the Canadian Officer may indicate the length of stay in Canada by a written date in your passport.
A Canada Visitor Visa, Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or other documents holder in Canada must apply for a Visitor Record if she/he needs to stay longer in Canada.
In order to stay longer in Canada as a Visitor, you need to apply and get approval for a Canada Visitor Record. You should apply for a Visitor Record at least two months before your status in Canada expires. Please be advised that a Visitor Record is not a Canada Visa, and you must be physically in Canada with a valid Canada Visitor Visa before applying.

Visitor Record Eligibility:

The applicant must meet some basic requirements in order to apply for a Visitor Record as follows:

  • The applicant should describe the reason why she/he wants to stay longer in Canada;
  • The applicant should provide evidence to the Immigration Officer that she/he will leave Canada at the end of the extension date, documents such as a return ticket, a letter from her/his employer, proof of family ties or property ownership in her/his home country;

  • The applicant must apply from inside Canada for a Visitor Record;
  • The applicant must not have any criminal or immigration-related convictions;
  • The applicant must ensure and provides evidence that she/he has enough money to cover her/his stay in Canada.

Note:

Suppose the applicant meets all the eligibility above and submits all the supporting documents for Canada Visitor Visa. There is no guarantee that Canada Immigration Officer will approve the Visitor Visa application, and the total paid Immigration and Biometrics fees will be non-refundable.
